By becoming a member, you must agree to abide by the following Code of Conduct for Members:

1. I will act within the governing document, UK law and the laws of Islam. I will ensure that I am aware of the content of the MCWAS constitution and the law as it applies to MCWAS.

2. I will act in the best interests of the charity as a whole, always considering what is best for MCWAS, its beneficiaries, members and stakeholders and avoiding bringing it into disrepute.

3. I will work within the powers and limitations set out in the charity’s constitution.

4. I will attend members meetings and other appointments or give apologies if I am unable to attend.

5. I understand that my membership means that I am entitled to be informed about finances, operations and strategy and to elect Trustees.

6. I will prepare for members meetings such as the AGM, including by reading the papers that have been provided to me in advance, querying unclear or difficult things and thinking through issues in good time before meetings.

7. I will engage actively in respectful discussion, debate and voting in meetings. I will contribute positively, listen carefully, challenge sensitively and avoid conflict. I will value and promote compromise. I will avoid speaking over others, raising my voice, verbal abuse, causing offence or using aggressive gestures or tones. I recognise that there will be zero tolerance for any physical threats or violence towards any attendee, Member or Trustee of MCWAS.

8. I will only submit resolutions and proposals to meetings that are appropriate and constructive, and will seek to debate issues with a view to achieving mutual understanding and compromise where there are differences of opinion.

9. I will engage collaboratively, constructively and respectfully with other members and Trustees for the benefit of all. I will respect diversity and differences of opinion within Islam. I will not obstruct or criticise other stakeholders in their practice of the faith.

10. I will not engage with, support or promote extremist, violent or racist organisations or ideologies.

11. I will respect the role of the Trustee Board in overseeing and leading the organisation, and will support Trustees to achieve that role.

I will respect the Imam(s) appointed by the Trustees and will accept their authority on religious matters relating to MCWAS as delegated by the Trustees.

I will respect those appointed to roles by the Trustees and accept their authority as delegated and delineated by the Trustees.

If I participate in the Management Team, I will respect the terms of reference that apply to me.

12. I will respect social channels for raising grievances as laid out in the constitution.

I will not host, organise or administer any meeting or group, either in person or on social media or using mobile communication channels, under the name/logo of MCWAS without the permission of the Trustee Board.

13. I will demonstrate respect for all visitors and stakeholders in the centre at all times. I will respect the rights of the neighbours of the centre, and will not engage in parking infringements.

The Board reserves the right to request proof of identity, address and/or date of birth in relation to your application.

Submitting your application does not mean you have become a Member. You will receive an email to inform you about the outcome of your application.

Becoming a Member means you accept to receive communication via email and WhatsApp as a means of being kept informed about membership matters only.
