As-Salam-O-Alaikum WaRahmatulahi WaBarakatuhu

Our recent actions advised by our Covid Officer to close the centre due to the recent cases of Covid were fully endorsed by Sutton Council Public Health to ensure we minimised the outbreak and kept the community safe.

After further discussions between our Covid officer and Public Health Sutton this week, they have recommended we stay closed for 2 weeks since the last recorded Covid case and therefore the centre will sadly be remaining closed until 7th January 2021.

Our local council, Sutton released a statement on Dec 20th that COVID-19 infection rates had increased from 154 per 100,000 to 227 per 100,000 in a week alone. That’s a 45% increase in just seven days.

Since the move to Tier 4 we hope the latest stats in the forthcoming days will make better reading however we will be liaising with Public Health Sutton to make an informed decision on whether MCWAS will remain closed beyond 7th January, next week.

Members of the community who want a test but don’t have any coronavirus symptoms can now book a rapid test at Hill House (Bishopsford Road, St.Helier)

The tests give a result within 30 minutes and are designed to identify people who are asymptomatic (not showing any symptoms), who might unknowingly be carrying and spreading coronavirus.

The 2021 MCWAS calendars can be purchased from Green Apple at a cost of £3.
